The NWA and Billy Corgan have apparently found the next challenger for the historic NWA World Heavyweight Championship. Current reigning champ Nick Aldis had only one request; that whomever he faces be either a former world champion, or have beaten a world champion, presumably in order to maintain the legacy of the iconic “ten pounds of gold”.
Well… As it turns out, in 2016 a man with two hands, no chin and a fighting chance shocked the world by pinning AJ Styles on live television while he was the WWE Champion. That man is James Ellsworth. That man will challenge Nick Aldis for the NWA Heavyweight Championship of the world in a match taped for independent promotion Championship Wrestling from Hollywood.
Ellsworth has wrestled a few matches since being released from his WWE contract in 2017, most recently for Canadian promotion DWW where he faced both IMPACT World Champion Austin Aries and WWE UK Champion Pete Dunne in a triple threat match.
The first challenger in #TheAldisCrusade revealed.
Per @RealNickAldis request – a man who either was a Worlds Champion or beat a Worlds Champion.
