EDMOND, Okla. — Southwest Minnesota State wrestlers Jacob Begin and Cole Wilson are individually ranked in the final NCAA Division II wrestling rankings, according to the poll released today by the Division II Wrestling Coaches Association.
Jacob Begin, a senior from Anoka, Minn., is ranked sixth in this week’s national poll at 174 pounds and is 27-4 this season with 11 falls and five tech. falls.
Begin, went 3-1 at the NCAA Super Region 3 tournament last weekend in Mankato, Minn., with two pins and a tech. fall and will advance to the DII NCAA National Tournament for the third consecutive time in his career.
Cole Wilson, a senior from Fairbault, Minn., is ranked seventh in the national poll at 285 pounds and is leading the Mustangs with a 30-5 record with 11 pins and 13 decisions.
Wilson also went 3-1 at the NCAA Super Region 3 tournament last weekend with a fall in the first round followed by a decision to advance to the semifinal round. In the semifinal round Wilson moved to the championship round with a decision but finished runner-up but will advance to the DII NCAA National Tournament for the second consecutive time in his career.
Both Begin and Wilson will travel to Chaifetz Arena in St. Louis, Mo., on Friday, March 13 for the DII NCAA National Tournament.
